Balloon Valvotomy

Balloon Valvotomy is beneficial to open up the stenotic valve. This procedure has the advantage that it can be easily performed on aortic, mitral, pulmonary, or tricuspid valves.

After examining the patient, doctors check the test report and then decide whether a patient is eligible for Balloon Valvotomy or not. After that, the doctor allows the patient to enter the cardiac catheterization laboratory. There, the patient is made to lie down, and sedation is applied so that the body relaxes. Due to anesthesia, the body gets numbed.

Through a small hole (called incision point), the doctor places the catheter tube that directs it to the upper heart chamber. After assessment through ECG or X-Ray machine, the doctor inflates the balloon to widen the narrowed valve.
